If your home was built befor the 1970's, there's a good chance that your footing drains around your foundation & leading to your septic were made of Orangeburg pipe.. Orangeburg pipe was made with compressed ground wood pulp fibers & tar pitch. It's life expectancy is 30-50 years. This variety of pipe is highly susceptible to tree root damage, disintegration & collapse. A possible footing drain failure of this type shows water bubbling up from basement floor. If it's a small footprint home, a deep basin sump pump often will catch the water & send it away. If it's a larger footprint, a concrete saw cut perimeter French drain directed to a deep basin installed sump pump solves the problem. Sump Pumps done right.

Sump pumps are not all created equal. Our company installs a Zoeller branded 1/2 hp cast iron septic style sump pump rated at 103 GPM (gallons per minute) We keep an in stock inventory of these pumps at all times in case of flooding situations where they can be difficult to procure. When our company installs a sump pump, we jack hammer the concrete floor, remove the excess material, place a large deep perforated poly basin in a bed of crushed stone & reseal the area with hydraulic cement. We install a back flow preventer & have a 12v battery back up pump option as well for those without generators. All connectons are solid with sch#40 pvc pipe. We core bore through the concrete wall & exit the pvc pipe outside & underground to daylight at least 20 ft from the foundation. The pictures to the right show the specs of the sump pump & black poly basin we install compared to 2 basins we removed that other "contractors" installed.
